Western Region Strategic Objectives
The purpose of our strategic objectives is to focus region-level efforts on activities that provide value for our members and make it easier to successfully operate healthy chapters.
- Enable the sustained operations of professional and university chapters
- Promote skills-based volunteering by IIE chapters and members
- Encourage and assist in the professional development of IIE members
- Encourage and assist education and research in the art and science of Industrial Engineering
Western Region Action Plan
The purpose of the Western Region Action Plan is to identify specific actions the regional leadership team will take during the calendar year to make progress toward accomplishing the Strategic Objectives.
2011 Action Plan (April 1, 2011 – March 30, 2012):
Operations
- Establish region leadership team: identify 2 RVP candidates by June 12, 2012
- Provide region infrastructure: blog, online elections, document drop box
- 100% of chapters to green status
- (Completed 2/12) Monthly RVP communication to chapters
- Conduct chapter needs survey and provide results to IIE headquarters
Volunteering
- Publish 2 skills-based volunteer projects by IIE members in the Western Region Newsletter
- Register 20 members to create a Record of Service (Presidential Service Award)
- Conduct a volunteer interest survey and provide results to IIE headquarters
Professional Development
- Pair each student chapter with a professional chapter
- Publish 4 professional development articles in the Western Region Newsletter
- Publish 6 speakers in the Western Region Speaker Bank
Education
- Hold university region conference
- 50% participation by university chapters in Student Technical Paper Competition
- Hold 1 region-level webinar
- Publish 6 technical articles written by IIE members in the Western Region Newsletter
